Just Noise is a recording studio based in Walsall, U.K. with roots in the local alternative scene. They opened up their space in early 2023, hoping to help up-and-coming artists to define their sound through recording, song-writing, and everything in between.
Their identity as a studio is rooted in their involvement with Birmingham’s music scene, so it was important to reflect this in their branding. I opted for an industrial look with the slate grey and workman’s yellow paying homage to the area’s history. It’s also a subtle tribute to the famed Birmingham landmark, the Custard Factory, which is just round the corner from where Just Noise began.
An integral part of Just Noise’s visual identity was the photography - this would form a large part of their social media content, playing a significant role in how they would be seen online. They also wanted to make sure it was easily achievable with the limited software they had at hand and that it worked well with the colours of the brand. With the presence of the bright yellow, and also the existing industrial vibe, I opted for black and white, with a particular emphasis on shadows.
